Cold conditions continue to be the norm this winter. We have had warmer periods to break up the cold – but the cold keeps coming back.
We have been moving some grain, but not as much as we hoped to be moving. Railways are slow to move the grain, which plugs up the grain terminals. In cold weather everything tends to slow down.
This past week we moved canola to the grain terminal – with overnight lows below -30C (closer to -40C with the windchill factored in!) at least we didn’t have any lineups to wait for! Also brought the last of the fertilizer we expect to be needing for the season. Once we get closer to spring we will bring our canola seed in, and also start seed cleaning.
